Creation vs Evolution - Weigh the DifferenceCreation science is philosophically-based on the belief that the universe and life on earth were created by God as described in the Bible. Creationists use the scientific method also, but simply operate from the presupposition that God designed and assembled our world.

  • The young earth creationist interprets the Genesis account of the creation literally, and uses the Biblical genealogy to calculate the age of the earth as being very near 6000 years old.
  • Old earth creationists accept the secular scientific community's assessment of the age of the earth and universe, and assume the creation periods were undefined lengths of time or there were large gaps of history in Genesis.

All creationists believe God created life, therefore, one of the main contentions between the creation and evolution camps is the origin of life. In contrast, secular scientists believe that all matter in the universe originated from a great cosmic explosion called the big-bang. They also assume that life developed following a natural assemblage of molecules and subsequent spontaneous reactions. Modern scientists are adamant that divine creation is not a valid explanation because the community is largely atheistic. Instead they are adamant that natural processes must be responsible for life's origin. It may be shocking to learn that a recent poll of the National Academy of Science found that 95% of biologists are either agnostic or atheists (Nature, Vol. 394, No. 6691, p. 313). As evolution is the biological communities champion theory, a relationship to the rapid progression of atheism in that discipline is rather obvious. Evolution is being taught as an unquestionable fact today, and is being used to explain the origin of life and the evolution of man without God.

The interpretation of the fossil record is the other main point of contention between secular and creation scientists. The young-earth creationist believes the Genesis account of Noah's flood was global in magnitude, and this event is readily supported by the existence of the sedimentary deposits known as the geological column. It is believed the evidence from this event remains misunderstood by the scientific community, because it is after-all impossible to correctly interpret the physical evidence of a supernatural event from a naturalistic perspective.

If a global flood occurred as described in the Bible, an atheist would be unable to conclude this from the physical evidence because the preservation of modern animals was supernaturally-based. A great many of the the animals in the fossil record are still alive today, and any interpretation of the fossil record must take into consideration the existence of modern animals which are ancestors of those fossilized. Therefore despite the magnitude of flood deposits covering the entire planet, the scientific community can not interpret the strata as the result of a single catastrophe. Although every inch of the earth has been covered in hundreds of feet of flood sediment, a single flood capable of depositing the entire fossil record could not have been survived without a supernatural intervention. From a naturalistic perspective, the scientific community can only come to the conclusion that the sedimentary rocks were deposited in a manner that animals could naturally survive; (i.e. multiple local floods, gradual deposition over millions of years, etc).

However, the Bible teaches that a flood catastrophe occurred in earth's history that was not naturally survivable by any air-breathing animal. The quantity of sedimentary deposits found on earth today stands as a monument to the Biblical global flood, but the animals alive today are only here because they were saved from this catastrophe by divine intervention. The scientific community can not imagine that such an amazing story is possible, and can not make the correct interpretation of the fossil record without this key information. If God has been involved in the creation and subsequent historical events which shaped our world, then physical evidence interpreted by an atheistic community should be examined closely for philosophically-derived errors.

The Truth is Out There

It is obvious when you take the time to look, that our world has been intelligently designed and assembled to host life. It is equally self-evident that there has been a terrible flood that totally destroyed the earth, but life miraculously lives. We all interpret the world around us through our presuppositions, and modern science has become overwhelmingly atheistic. They are adamant that God had no part in the development of our world, and insistent that random natural processes alone explain our existence. A naturalist cannot correctly interpret the history of a world with a supernatural history. If the Bible is true, the truth is out there, but overwhelmed by a sea of misinformation that was birthed by atheistic philosophy.

If your views differ from the scientific community, and instead you believe that God was involved in earth's history, then look within the archive of information on this site, because within its contents resides certain truths you will find nowhere else. Creation science is attempting to resolve the conflicts that exist between Biblical and scientific teachings. All the answers may not exist just yet, but the Biblical insight possessed by creation scientists offers humanity its best hope for a resolution into the true nature of our world. The creation vs. evolution controversy may be the most important issue that has deserved your personal attention. After all; if you have been created, wouldn't you want to know why.

2 Peter 3:3-6 First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation." 5 They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water, 6 through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished.
