Our Faculties ...

Calvary University teaches a broad range of academic fields through a diverse group of educational agencies who were carefully selected to offer affordable programmes to a global audience of students.

CU offers programmes through the following faculties:

The Arts

The General Arts

The Faculty of Arts offers programmes in the non-scientific, creative and imaginative fields. Bachelor of Arts programmes may consist of a mix of courses from all the faculties (when less than 36% of any faculty - 140 credits) and are endorsed when over 18% (70 credits or more) of subjects are taken from any faculty. A separate page is devoted to the list of courses so selected. Should a programme contain more than 139 credits from one faculty the qualification title becomes a Bachelor of that faculty. The different faculties are listed below:

Management

Economic &
Management Sciences

Business administration, general management, marketing and leadership are some of the most interesting and relevant fields of study in our time and their study is probably one of the most needed in the western world, as well as in developing countries.
A whole range of programmes from the Certificate level, through MBA and other programmes on the master's level, up to DBA or PhD are available.

Counselling

Counselling

CU offers Biblical Counselling as well as pure academic Counselling programmes. Both programmes have a firm academic foundation as well as a broad spectrum of supplementary courses. Students are trained in a set of techniques that aim to guide people to a cure or to help bring a solution to their real and perceived circumstances, in order to assist them in dealing with their surroundings according to Biblical and/or mental health principles. In both cases the student learns how to bring people to a fuller understanding of themselves from within a Christian value system.

Ministry/Divinity

Ministry &
Divinity

The CU Ministry & Divinity programme is mostly offered in local churches to members on different levels. The programmes include a Certificate in Ministry as a qualification for Christian workers, a Diploma in Ministry for Church leaders, a Bachelor of Ministry for evangelists, missionaries and pastors and up to a Doctor of Ministry as the final degree.

SPECIALIZED FIELDS
Three specialized fields have been established as departments: "Messianic Studies", "Eschatology" and "Messianic Judaism" and are available as endorsements
to these qualifications.

Communication

Communication

Communication is the sharing of information, ideas and feelings or the provision of entertainment by speaking, writing or other methods. Human or personal communication takes place when people make their thoughts and wishes known. This starts early in life as non-verbal communication – a mode that is never phased out throughout life. Knowledge is shared in order that each individual need not have to invent or discover everything. Mass communication occurs when messages are sent to a large audience. Technical means of communication such as the TV or text books may be included in all of these. Linguistics, psychology and sociology are typical areas of study within the field of communication.

Psychology

Psychology

Studies in Psychology involve the understanding of the mind, thought and behaviour of people through knowledge gained by the scientific method. Different sub-fields of Psychology are Counselling Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Physiology of Psychology (Behavioural Neuroscience), Psychology of the Learner, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Personality and Psychology of Life. All these courses are supported by the most popular textbooks that are published by Pearson Education.

Calvary Faculties

Education

A programme has been prepared to equip teachers to train students using a method that is both classical and Christian. It is classical in that it draws deeply on the rich heritage of western civilization and culture; it is Christian in that it recognizes the Bible as the final authority in matters of life and thought.
Education is about learning specific skills as well as impartation of knowledge, good judgment and wisdom. Modern computing devices such as CD-ROM, e-mail and the Internet have brought about the emergence of e-learning – the system CU employs in its learning methodology.

Sociology

Sociology

Sociology is the study of social rules and processes that bind and separate people not only as individuals, but as members of associations, groups and institutions (including the church). It has its interest in the study of the social lives of people, groups and societies and may include brief, anonymous contact between strangers or the global social processes between cultures. CU helps students to gain a social view of the world and to look at others as well as ourselves.

The Creative & Performing Arts

The Creative &
Performing Arts

The performing arts include theatre, film, music, comedy, dance and opera where the artist's own body, face and/or presence is involved as a medium. The creative arts deal with the study of how materials are combined or transformed to create an art object. This faculty will present a range of courses in the performing art of Music in the near future.

To enrol for any of the above courses with a Calvary Qualification in mind, first apply for registration as a CU student. You will be sent an application questionnaire and fee payment instructions. When you are accepted as a student, you need to pay the CU registration fees.
